Archive for February, 2011

As we reflect on a busy start to the year for all of us at YU, and all the events we have shared with you so far in 2011, we would like to express once more how grateful we are for your presence at our studio. The recent workshop with Simon Borg Olivier was another example of your willingness to explore all the wonderful aspects of yoga with us.

Today is the start of a new month, which seems like a great opportunity to remind you of the offerings we have coming up for you. Click on the title links or go to the events pages for more information. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Gentle Yoga – Finding Ease.
Starting on Thursday, March 10, 5:45 – 7:15pm. This four week course is open to all, including beginners and anyone who is recovering from injury or illness.

Introduction to Yoga Philosophy.
Saturday, March 12, 1:30 – 3:30pm. This two hour class forms part of an ongoing course of monthly sutra studies, in which we explore the wisdom of yoga through chanting, translation and discussion of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. This class is open to anyone who would like to deepen their knowledge of the history and language of yoga. Please see events page for future class dates.

Beginners Yoga Course.
Monday, March 14, 7:45 – 8:45pm. This six week course is appropriate for people of all ages, shapes and sizes who wish to experience the many benefits of yoga. No experience or flexibility required.

Pranayama Practice.
Saturday, March 19, 1:30 – 3:30pm. In this two hour class we will explore various techniques to regulate the breath in supine, seated and dynamic postures. More efficient breathing patterns bring more energy and vitality, and greatly enhance the body’s natural ability to heal itself. This two hour class will include some gentle warm-ups, as well as a deep relaxation to conclude the practice.

Bhakti Yoga and Kirtan.
Sunday, March 27, 5:30pm. This session is open to all. These monthly sessions begin with 108 rounds of a powerful healing mantra followed by the practice of kirtan where mantra and music merge in a call and response style. Bring and open mind and heart!

We value your feedback about the events you have attended, and any suggestions you may have for future offerings. We wish you a wonderful yoga month. Om shanti, shanti, shanti. L & K.

Just a few days to go before Simon Borg-Olivier arrives to teach Firm But Calm – Sthira Sukham Asanam. We are excited to see that so many of you will be joining us to learn from Simon. He is an immensely inspiring and entertaining teacher. An email was sent to all who are booked in, to let you know what you’ll need to bring, and to give you some advice about where to park, and where to eat! If you haven’t received this information, please let us know, by emailing info@yogaunlimited.co.nz

Some of you have emailed asking to hire mats and/or blankets. These are available for hire from the studio, for $2.50 per session per item. Arrangements will need to be made for you to collect the props, so if you would like to make use of them, please email us at the above address by Thursday evening, February 17, at the latest.
