Yoga Unlimited is pleased to offer a four-week course for women in the various stages of recovery from breast cancer. The classes explore gentle stretching, strength building, meditation and breathing practice. Because the class size will be kept small, each participant will have the opportunity to work with the teacher to tailor the postures and exercises in the way that best serves her for the way that she is feeling on the day of the class.
The 60-minute class structure is as follows:
- 10 minutes of centring and breathing practice
- 35 minutes of yoga postures aimed at mobilising the shoulder area, building core strength and developing stamina (where appropriate)
- 15 minutes relaxation, guided meditation and/or breathing practice
The combination of physical exercise with breath focus and meditation allows the student to cultivate a greater level of awareness of her physical body as well as her own mental and emotional processes. Through increased awareness, the student is much more able to be an active participant in the integration of her experience as well as a driving force towards greater healing and wellbeing.

** Some feedback we’ve received about previous courses:
I have really enjoyed the classes and would definitely love to continue. For me, the small class size and that it was tailored specifically for Breast Cancer women was an absolute advantage, at this stage I wouldn’t be happy going to a normal class. Being a novice at yoga, I am happy to continue along the same lines as the pilot programme. Kelly was a fantastic teacher and very understanding of our specific needs. I do hope it will be able to continue in the future.
I found that the four classes gave a wonderful range of movements and poses, and also breathing and meditation techniques. I have achieved my aims, which were to begin to grow confidence in my body and strength, and therefore my ability to participate (and complete!) a yoga block class. In particular I feel that the classes have improved my energy levels (physically, spiritually and emotionally). The breathing techniques have helped me to deal with the current high level of stress in my life.
A special, big Thankyou to Kelly for the opportunity, and for being such an amazing teacher – I love your style and your generosity of spirit.
I really enjoyed the chance to have classes specifically targeting the areas of surgery and in an environment that felt safe and understanding, especially during the time of treatment when physically I am feeling more vulnerable. I liked the development of the classes and the balance between poses, meditation and breathing techniques. The only thing I would have liked a bit more of was some of the stronger poses to explore how my body would cope with these. I also liked the fact that everyone taking part could had been through some form of breast cancer, the additional support that provided was very valuable.
